California Native I'm originally from San Francisco, though I attended high school in the San Fernando valley. My school's mascot once had a native american origin but, now that the indians have become gambling moguls, I understand that's been changed -- whether to some animal or in honor of long dead Greeks who never ran casinos, I'm unaware. I attended 3 universities. One of their mascots underwent a similar updating about a decade ago because it was "too cute".

I've been living on the westside of Los Angeles along an arc from Hermosa Beach to Westwood since the late 1970's. I was also in Oregon & Arizona for about 4 years total. I lived in a hilltop location for a while in AZ, with a great view over Squaw Peak (since renamed for a gal who took a wrong turn in the 1st Iraq War and got herself killed) for sunrises and a clear view to the horizon in the west for sunsets. My best dawn & dusk pictures are from that period.

Over the years I've traveled to about 45 of states plus about half of Canada, a few trips to Europe, South America once, a few islands in the South Pacific and the Playboy Mansion. Curiously, I've spent more time in central London than downtown LA. And I've about 6 months cumulative time in Hawaii, including all six major islands, counting numerous trips.
