Life in the High Desert Hello I grew up in California moving to Needles when I was 5 and moving to the High Desert almost 21 years ago. The High Desert offers us such a drastic weather change without having to die from the heat. When I hear people say "its so hot here" I just smile to myself because growing up in Needles and running on the pavement barefoot I know what hot is.
